Mounting the DC Converter Board

These instructions are for mounting the DC to DC Converter board in your enclosure

The DC Converter board can be mounted anywhere in your enclosure. This device allows you to power 12V DC equipment (Cooling fan) in your enclosure without the need for an additional power supply. It runs on any voltage between 12V and 48V DC and converts it to a stable 12V 3 Amp DC supply. It's primary function is to run the cooling fan, but it can run other devices you may want to add such as gauges, pumps, 12v relays, etc. The DC Converter is a standalone device and does not interact with TB6560 Driver board or software.
 

 

 

Warnings

AC Mains Power can kill or seriously injure you and those around you

DO NOT plug in your equipment while you are working on it

Do Not hold your board by any of its components, hold only the board itself

Do not bend or attempt to move any of it's components

Your board can be damaged by static discharge

3mm Drill bit (appropriate for the material your enclosure is made of)

Assembly/Installation process

When choosing your mounting point positions please consider the following:

  1. The DC Converter will require power from the Power Supply
  2. The lead on the Cooling fan is approx 230mm, Converter will need to be in range of it.
  3. Converter produces heat (although minimal)
  4. Converter is not to be mounted to other parts or come in contact with other components
  5. Standoffs must be used to stop the circuitry on the underside of the board coming in contact
    with other surfaces
  6. Do not run wires directly over or on Converter board as it can produce/receive interference,
    may also be a danger of shorting as heat is involved

Please check your board against these templates prior to drilling. Boards from the same batch all conformed with
each other, however boards from different batches varied by as much as 2mm. I can not claim any confidence
in accuracy due to these measurement differences.

Mounting Process

Once you have selected the desired position to mount the board please drill 4 x
3mm holes as per the mounting template. Board orientation is at your discretion.
 


Screw 4 Brass standoffs in to the holes, this will be easy with all composite materials.
Standoffs stop the board from coming in contact with the enclosure and provide a
ventilation space underneath to assist with heat dissipation. If you have used steel for
your enclosure you may need to tap the holes first or use an industrial adhesive. If
the enclosures material is thin enough, M3 nuts could be sourced and used.

 

Position the board over the Standoffs.

 

Insert nylon screws and tighten.

DC Converter is now ready for wiring.
